VTB Arena Park — Landscape

We bring comfort and a quality city landscape to the area of the Hyatt and its offices. We used granite floor finishing as a base on which we placed wild types of grass and different types of lighting fixtures.

In the entrance area of the hotel we have suggested placing high trees that will sit in corten pots. The floor design is a mix of patterns that are reflected in the facade design. Between the hotel and offices we designed an alley of trees that follows the main principles of the nearby VTB park. The office area we have designed as a relaxing area with street furniture and low greenery where nearby workers can rest and eat their lunch.

Between the hotel and the office we were asked to design one of the 1st green roofs in Moscow. The greenery will be visible from the hotel rooms and offices around. We have suggested a mix of low greenery with different types of moss, that will change color each season of the year. Between the nature we have designed stone cover paths that provide graphic patterns. The roof will be close to the public but will still bring more nature to the city buildings.

The client expected a landscape design with a high quality, one that would reflect the quality of the luxurious apartments as well as being strongly connected to the whole vision of the Arena Park and with powerful ideological value.

For the closed territory where five apartment blocks and 1 office are designed we stipulated an updated idea of a Unique Moscow courtyard. Our aim was to recreate the traditional style of Moscow cozy yard in modern urban landscape of much larger area than a yard. That is why we underlined five separate small yards next to each building, and a big common area in the center was divided into 3 main ones of different purpose. In the history of soviet Moscow the yards played important role – neighbors were very sociable and friendly and a yard gathered all ages and generations together; all their social life, leisure, relax time, parenting, sport activities, morning exercises used to happen there.

The first zone in our design – is a meadow for walking in the center of a “yard” – suitable for running, summer sunbathing and picnic. The second zone is divided into several cozy areas for different ages - children, calm relaxation for adults and a sport zone for teenagers. These areas are sheltered from the surroundings by massive hills that insolate noise, create privacy and also have benches and flowerbeds.

The third zone – is a “city grove”. The underground parking located under whole plot does not allow us to plant trees, so we designed a modern composition of small green islands where we planted very simple, traditional for Moscow yards garden trees such as: apple trees, hawthorns, jasmine and etc. Thus, the design combines very modern landscaping methods and technology with traditional plants and friendly, family atmosphere and everything blended into an organic whole.
