— "Ok. I need an action." Curatorial project of Blank Architects
"Ok. I need an action." - laboratory on the ArchMoscow exhibition. The laboratory program includes practical classes, lectures from curators and architects from the Blank Architects, performances and shows.
The topic of the laboratory is located between two poles: architecture and performance. On the one - stability, hierarchy and dialogue with our own historical heritage; on the other - fluidity, play and fluid ontological status. Statics and dynamics, the form and the behavior. Spaces are superimposed on each other and created for performance.
IDEA
"Ok. I need an action." - says the architect.
Starting from the mother's womb or metaphorical egg, spaces and living creatures are in a stable and tense relationship with each other. From the moment of conception to the very last days of all living space affect the behavior of individuals. The opposite is also true: in the course of their development, living creates also build spaces for their performances. Bodies working, resting, interacting with each other continuously erect, destroy, dig and pave spaces. The participants in this eternal process leave traces of their activity inside the landscape and pass it on to the next generations.
The basic value which connects performance and architecture is "an action". It connects us to a wide range of methods for designing, constructing and building spaces. The intersections of different practices, techniques and tools are like construction sites. There are countless configurations and connections: organic and inorganic, language and silence, organized process and free play. Each construction site is a Babel, a collection of an unlimited number of forms and behaviors which speak different languages. The architecture of a social utopia looks like a participatory project, where participants are involved in a single process of creating new territories. Our performance lab invites young architects, designers and just visitors to the ArchMoscow exhibition project and also citizens to participate in co-construction practices.
"Ok. I need an action!" - the builders shout.
